Autoroute

The Autoroute feature in JITX allows you to automatically route selected elements that are on the same net.

Steps to Autoroute

  1. Select Elements: Select the pads, components, vias, control points, or differential insertion points that you want to route.
  2. Autoroute: Press q to request the selected elements to be routed.

Behavior

The behavior of the Autoroute operation depends on the elements selected and the design constraints defined:

Autorouting Selected Elements

When one or more elements are selected, the autorouter will attempt to draw copper routes between these elements if they belong to the same net. Multiple objects on different nets can also be selected simultaneously; the autorouter will process them concurrently, routing each set of objects according to their respective nets.

  • Active Layer Routing: Routes are searched for and drawn only on the active layer when the autoroute command is issued. Ensure the desired routing layer is active before initiating autorouting.
  • Adherence to Design Rules: The autorouter will follow all net classes, clearance rules, and other design constraints set in the board layout. A banner message will indicate if there is no space to route or if there are no valid connections to be made between the selected items.
