Auto-Via

The Auto-Via feature in JITX automatically places vias adjacent to selected objects, simplifying the process of creating connections between different layers of a PCB.

Steps to Auto-Place Vias

  1. Select Elements: Select the pads, control points, or vias where you want to auto-place vias.
  2. Auto-Place Vias Adjacent to Selected Elements: Press Shift + v to place vias (of the currently active type selected in the via dialog) adjacent to each of the selected objects in a cardinal (N/E/S/W) direction. A route will be added if space permits.

Figure 1: Auto-place vias in cardinal directions around selected elements.

  3. Auto-Place Vias Diagonally to Selected Elements: Press Shift + b to place vias in diagonal directions (NE/NW/SE/SW) around the selected objects. A route will be added if space permits.

Figure 2: Auto-place vias in diagonal directions around selected elements.

To manually place vias, see Via Mode documentation.

Behavior

  • Active Via Type: Auto-vias will use the currently active via type defined in the via dialog.
  • Placement Constraints: Vias are placed only if there is enough space.
